On view in the Painting Gallery, this exhibition presents a selection of the artist’s early paintings from the 1960s and 1970s as well as examples of her multi-year design collaboration with Philip Johnson, among other pioneering projects.
Night (1947 – 2015): Isa Genzken
This exhibition will present a new body of work by the artist that refers to the Lipstick Building (1986), an elliptical office tower in Manhattan designed by Philip Johnson and John Burgee. In each work, Perez uses his characteristic style to explore the formal qualities of the Lipstick Building in a variety of palettes.

Ivy Baldwin Dance, formed in 1999 by NYC-based choreographer, performer, and teacher Ivy Baldwin, is a company dedicated to the creation and performance of new contemporary dance. The company will perform Remove, a work-in-progress showing, choreographed by Ivy Baldwin.
This symposium will explore the evolution of lighting design on the Glass House campus. Speakers include Alice Friedman, Professor of Art and Architecture, Wellesley College; Sandy Isenstadt, Professor of Art History, University of Delaware; and Margaret Maile Petty, Head of the School of Design, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Los Angeles-based architects Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee (principals, Johnston Marklee), Josef Helfenstein (director, The Menil) and Martino Stireli (chief curator of architecture and design, MoMA) will discuss the Menil Drawing Institute, the Philip Johnson-designed Menil House (1951), and the display of art in domestic spaces.
Pritzker Prize winner Thom Mayne and 2015 Architectural League of New York President’s Medal recipient Henry N. Cobb will discuss architecture and urbanism.
Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu of SO – IL will discuss their work with historian and theorist Kazys Varnelis.
